Review Body: The 2nd oldest Rainforest in the World. A 5 star Resort with everything you need for your comfort. Amazing staff, fluent in English. Fabulous and highly qualified rangers/guides who know the forest and what lives within it, like it's part of their family, which it is. You can go on canopy walks, night walks, day walks including an early morning hike up to the highest canopy, though you need to be able and determined. Unforgettable waterfall-jacuzzi is a must when hiking back down, to beat the humidity and keep you cool. You must be prepared with equipment and dress to help you walk, and remain safe and dry. Anything you don't have, can be purchased from their in-house shop. Fantastic in-house restaurant offering Malaysian and other SE Asian cuisines, including Western foods. Two great bars to keep you quenched. If lucky, you'll see and live besides Orangutans their babies, a range of Monkey groups, deer, snakes, beautiful exotic birds, and, of course, 100's of variety of flora and fauna. It's a once in a lifetime experience, offering various trails which can be undertaken with guides and some without. Rafting down the river for 8km was fantastic. Monkeys were at play on the shores and huge shoals of freshwater fish were beautiful to see. Up above, in the sky, Hornbill birds spared around. At the end of a busy day, don't forget to have a 90 minute, full body massage to ease away the aches and muscle fatigue acquired durung the day. If you're ever in Borneo, this experience is a must for the adventurous and those wanting to be a peace with nature.

Review Body: Absolutely spectacular experience from start to finish. Even before arriving at the lodge, we got to try their newly introduced Blue Hole snorkeling experience, which was such an unexpected and incredible activity to combine with a rainforest trip. Highly recommend adding that experience if you visit. The journey into the lodge already felt like a wildlife expedition on its own. We were lucky enough to spot pygmy elephants on the way in, which was absolutely incredible considering how difficult they can be to find in the wild. During our stay we also saw wild orangutans, flying squirrels, civets during the night drive, and an amazing variety of birdlife throughout the rainforest. A huge shoutout to my guide Donny, who was amazing throughout the trip and taught me so much about the rainforest and wildlife in the area. All the guides and staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the service overall was exceptional — from the warm welcome to even the chefs knowing guests by name. The lodge itself is beautiful and perfectly integrated into the rainforest surroundings. Truly one of the most memorable wildlife experiences I’ve had and a place I’d happily return to anytime.

Review Body: Everything about this award winning resort is exceptional. The setting is majestic - in a bend on the Danum river right in the middle of primary rainforest. The lodge blends into its environment. So thoughtfully designed. The guides are amazing. They're so knowledgeable and passionate. We had Kalvin who was exceptional. Given this is a 2.5 hour journey in unpaved road from the nearest town, it's a wonder how the lodge is so immaculately kept and it's a real credit to all the team. The food is buffet style and superb. There is a cold room for fruit and desserts. The villas are spacious, clean and come equipped with all amenities. There is a heated plunge pool on the balcony where you can watch the rainforest around you. We saw many wildlife on the trails, but being in the rainforest itself was a truly magical experience. As well as guided trails, there are plenty of other activities - canopy walk, cycling, tree climbing, river rafting, etc. There is a small shop onsite selling souvenirs and essentials (including leech socks!). I cannot recommend Borneo Rainforest Lodge highly enough. It's a remote luxury resort - wish we were staying longer!

A huge thank you to David, our guide, who was simply amazing: passionate, attentive, kind, and always happy to share his knowledge and help us discover this exceptional environment. He truly made our experience even more unforgettable. The entire staff was wonderful as well. Everyone was always smiling, welcoming, and incredibly kind. A very special mention goes to the kitchen team, who treated us with extraordinary kindness. And the food… absolutely delicious! We enjoyed every single meal. 😍 We are leaving with so many beautiful memories and, above all, the feeling that we experienced something truly special. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to David and the entire team for your warm welcome, your kindness, and all the wonderful moments you gave us. Review Body: I must say it was the best hospitality that I've ever experienced in this superb accommodation close to mother nature. The staff are super friendly right from the arrival. We were greeted warmly by Estiva (hope I get the name right) for briefing and accomodation setup. Everyone was just super friendly - the 2 Debs, Didie, our guide Sherwood, another amazing knowledgeable guide Chong & the manager Freddie. Shoutout to you all for making our stay amazing and thank you for the room upgrade too. 😁 Various activities available and I especially like the night drive and canopy walk. Uh, the stars during the night drive was spectacular. For hiking, just be ready to battle with the leeches. 🤣 I definitely would want to come back again to spend more time with mother nature!

Review Body: The absolute definition of luxury within native rainforest! We were picked up from Lahad Datu airport and taken to the office for check-in and welcome drinks. We were then driven to the lodge (which felt more like a guided drive as the driver was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly). Upon arrival, we met with our guide (who is the same for the entire stay) to discuss the itinerary. All meals were provided in buffet style and were absolutely fantastic, with a great view over the rainforest. Our room was utterly gorgeous, with a cool pool on the balcony and drinks provided in the fridge. The excursions were amazing and catered to our small group's abilities. I would highly recommend Borneo Rainforest Lodge to everyone who visits Borneo!

Review Body: This was not just a beautiful hotel but an incredible experience. The PD lodge was out of this world - looking out onto primary rainforest - wildlife everywhere. Our nature guide Nick, was exceptional. We had multiple walks, night drive and swam in a natural pool in the forest. Orangutan male swinging in trees at eye level 50 metres from our accommodation. It is a very special place. Two of our party did the tree climb - extraordinary. Food was incredible - how they manage this miles from any other kind of life I really don't know! Only slight negative was a very pushy maitre d trying to sell us wine and not recognising personal space - larger than life and unnecessary.

Review Body: Possibly the most well rated lodge for wildlife in Borneo and deservedly so. The virgin rainforest is spectacular, with lots of wildlife sightings possible. The estate has done a tremendous job with the various trails including the canopy walk (stunning!). It is a 2.5hr drive from Lahad Datu, so not easy to get to. Danum Valley is worth it though and there is no better place to be! Service and food could not be better!! Variety , quality, attention to detail 10/10 The only room for improvement is on the rooms. I mentioned it to reception and they tried to help. Some of the rooms are dated so perhaps try Premium Deluxe or above.

Review Body: BRL helped create one of the most amazing experience of my life. Saw kingfishers on hotel premises, amazing walk with Jean where we saw Red leafed monkeys, several Orangutans, Hornbills.. The hotel itself offers amazing service, great views - very personable and friendly staff who go out of their way to make your experience comfortable. Clean spacious rooms, and beautiful primary rainforest as far as you can see. Shoutout to all the amazing staff, Jude, Jean, Mimi, Emi, Farah and all the others for making the stay so magical.

Review Body: This is paradise in the middle of the jungle. The nature is incredible, the facility just beautiful, all meals are amazing. The best part of the lodge is truly the staff. From driver, over the housekeeping, to our tour guide and all the employees in the restaurant and bar. They are always smiling, attentive, helpful and so welcoming. A unique experience we will not forget.

Zionel the food manager is a wonderul host and has a great singing voice! Our guide Dexter was amazing and every trek we went on we saw different animals and insects. It is truely a bucket list place.

Itinerary Summary: Blue Ring Reef Snorkelling & Danum Valley

Itinerary Description: Your adventure begins in Lahad Datu, where you'll meet the team for a short welcome briefing before setting off towards W Bay Payang. Enjoy breakfast by the coast before boarding your boat to explore Blue Ring Reef, Malaysia's only known double marine blue hole. Snorkel among vibrant coral gardens and tropical marine life, then continue to Laila Reef and Pulau Baik, where a sunken Japanese cargo vessel has become a thriving artificial reef. Between snorkelling sessions, relax on board and take in the beautiful scenery of Darvel Bay, including a stop at Kalung-Kalungan. After returning to shore, freshen up and enjoy a leisurely seaside lunch before leaving the coast behind for a scenic 2.5-hour drive into Danum Valley Conservation Area. As the landscape transforms from turquoise waters to one of the world's oldest rainforests, you'll experience two of Sabah's most remarkable ecosystems in a single day. Arrive at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, where you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink before settling into your rainforest retreat. Itinerary Description: Wake up to the sounds of the rainforest before setting off on a guided morning trek through Danum Valley. Visit the ancient Coffin Cliff, a historic Dusun burial site perched above the forest, then continue to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the surrounding canopy. End the trek with a refreshing dip in the natural Jacuzzi Pool before returning to the lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring the rainforest from above on the 314-metre Canopy Walkway, suspended 27 metres above the forest floor, offering a unique perspective of the towering trees and wildlife. If you're after more adventure, you can also join optional activities such as river rafting or jungle cycling (additional charges apply). Alternatively, simply relax at the lodge and soak in the peaceful surroundings. Should the weather prevent outdoor activities, indoor cultural sessions will be arranged instead.
