Guided night walk to spot rare Leopard Cats with conservationists on Pulau Ubin
[Only on 28 Mar 2026] With tigers and leopards long gone, the Leopard Cat remains Singapore’s last native wildcat - and this is the only night walk dedicated to understanding and protecting it.Once more widespread, these shy, nocturnal cats are now nationally critically endangered, with only 50 left in Singapore. As our landscapes change, Leopard Cats are increasingly navigating a world shaped by people, making awareness, coexistence and community action more important than ever.At night, you’ll explore Pulau Ubin’s quiet kampong paths and forest trails with experienced nature guides and wildlife advocates, learning how to read the forest and search for signs of this elusive wildcat. Along the way, you may also encounter other nocturnal residents like mousedeer, civets, bats and snakes. What makes this experience truly special is who you’ll be walking with. Before the walk begins, meet 2 of the co-founders of the Singapore Wildcat Action Group (SWAG) over craft beer and finger food, and hear first-hand stories from the frontlines of wildcat conservation in Singapore and Malaysia. Learn how they’re raising awareness through community programs, gathering critical wildlife data through installing camera traps, and rallying communities to protect endangered wildcats - and how your participation directly supports their ongoing conservation efforts.By the end of the night, this won’t just be about spotting a Leopard Cat. By joining this experience, you're directly contributing to wildcat conservation efforts in Singapore. You’ll also walk away with a deeper appreciation for Singapore’s wild heritage, a clearer understanding of the threats our native species face, and the knowledge that you too, can take small steps that make a difference. About Singapore Wildcat Action Group (SWAG)Co-founded and directed by Dr. Vilma D’Rozario and Carmen Pang, SWAG is a volunteer-driven conservation team protecting Singapore’s last native wildcat - the critically endangered Leopard Cat through research, habitat protection, and community education. By rallying volunteers, partnering with scientists, and raising public awareness, SWAG works to reduce threats like habitat loss and roadkill while inspiring people to care about wildcats.
