Review Body: we thoroughly enjoyed the tingkat painting experience. The session was relaxing, engaging, and a wonderful way to learn about the cultural significance behind this traditional art form. The instructor was patient and encouraging, making it easy for everyone to follow along regardless of their artistic experience. I especially loved being able to create my own unique piece while learning new painting techniques. It was a meaningful and enjoyable activity that left me feeling both creative and accomplished. Tip for future guests: Wear comfortable clothing and don't worry about having prior painting experience. Just relax, enjoy the process, and have fun expressing your creativity.

Review Body: I truly enjoyed my Tingkat painting experience at Pei Lin’s Studio. I was warmly greeted by Tran, who was my teacher for the session. Before I arrived, I was asked what colour I would like for my tingkat and what designs I wanted. I chose white, with a chrysanthemum on one side and a phoenix on the other. As a beginner with no painting experience, I really appreciated how patiently Tran showed me how to get the best results. I enjoyed chatting with him and listening to his guidance throughout the session. He offered me snacks and water while I worked, and he played music he had chosen, which made the whole experience feel even more delightful. Tran also kindly helped fix some of my mistakes, and after he applied the final varnish, my tingkat came out beautifully. Afterward, Tran also showed me where to go for a rewarding walk through Little India, which added even more to the experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and now have a beautiful souvenir to remind me of Singapore, Tran, and Pei Lin’s Studio. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone.

Review Body: I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this batik painting class! The booking process was seamless — confirmation came through almost immediately via WhatsApp, and I was able to select my design from an online album in advance. When I arrived, I discovered I was the only participant in the session. Unlike other classes I’ve booked through Seek Sophie (where I’m usually asked to reschedule in such cases), this class went ahead just for me — and I’m so glad it did! Baba Tan was a fantastic host and teacher. His instructions were clear, supportive, and easy to follow, and he stayed by my side throughout the class, offering guidance and great conversation. He also went above and beyond by treating me to a delicious yam tart from a local bakery and a beautifully brewed tea. The whole experience felt so personal and special. I’m already planning to return on my next visit to Singapore to paint a tiffin carrier (tinkat). This was a superb experience from start to finish — I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Review Body: My mum and I had a wonderful time at the mini Peranakan tingkat painting class. The class was really fun and creative — we learned all about the traditional Singaporean art of mini tingkat painting and got to decorate our own pieces to take home. Our teacher Tan was super friendly, skillful, and always happy to help throughout the session. He made sure we understood each step and gave great tips. We both really enjoyed the class and left feeling proud of what we created. It was a great way to spend quality time together, learn something new, and connect with a piece of local culture. It was a phenomenal bonding experience for my wife and I. Lisa and her husband are extremely patient and generous, they bought us Kuei to try. Review Body: Great help in getting us started on Tingkat Painting. Advice was helpful; they patiently monitored our progress and kindly allowed us to extend the time taken to complete our complex painting given we were complete novices. Also, they have hosted many people before us and taken great photo samples for the catalogue - choices are aplenty and there was enough lead time for us to choose and decide what we wanted for the tingkat. It was an overall awesome experience.

Review Body: It was really a wonderful experience to do this Tinkgat painting workshop with Ms Amy and Mr Tan. Ms Amy had drawn and kept our designs ready on the tingkats. Mr Tan was very detailed and clear in his instructions on how to paint them. They were right there if we needed any help. We could clearly see their passion towards making sure everyone goes back happy with their painted Tingkats. We were very happy for sure. Highly recommend this activity.

Review Body: We wanted the activity to be a bonding experience for the participants. The painting process allowed the participants to interact regarding the colour choice and painting technique. The provision of the childhood toys/games (e.g. five stones and "pick up sticks") allowed the participants to play the games with one another while waiting for the varnish to dry. This provide good interaction and bonding time for all participants.

Review Body: Tingkat paining with Pei Lin was very therapeutic and enjoyable. She gave many design ideas to choose and eventually I settled for one that is my own and she helped me draw the outline on tingkat (diff design on each side). She was warm and friendly, even ordered kueh to share with us which was delicious. Highly recommended for friends/small group as studio is quiet and cozy. As Art teachers, we had some designs we drew up ourselves and knew how to mix our own colours and apply. (The course is set up for complete beginners through to experienced artists. Well worth it for everyone!). It was so relaxing and fun to be in complete ‘flow’. She also had the best music playlist that really set the mood.

I worked with Baba Tan who was so lovely, explained everything very well, made some suggestions based on experience which really did make my piece turn out better, and was nice to chat to. Everything was organised, neat, and easy and I’m very pleased with what I took home. I would definitely recommend!

Itinerary Description: Participants will be given a short introduction to tingkats & how to start to paint the pre-drawn mini tingkats During the 3 hours relaxing session, Pei Lin will be providing hands-on guidance on the painting process. Each participant will bring home their own painted mini tingkat Trainers will be either Nyonya Pei Lin or Baba Tan
