Take the path less travelled and discover Mt Bromo from four unique angles
Whether you are a photographer, a hiking enthusiast or just love getting off-the-beaten path, this Mt Bromo trip is for you. In addition to capturing the sunrise at the quieter Argo Wulan sunrise spot, you will also have a chance to hike Mt Batok, Mt. Batur's greener and more lush twin brother. Finally you'll get up close and personal with Mt Bromo at the crater rim - this spot is more crowded, but still worth it for the awesome feels of hearing a volcano breathe! This itinerary isn’t offered by other travel companies, making it perfect for those craving something different! Please do note this itinerary does require a bit more hiking than the typical Mt Bromo trip. What to ExpectSee Mt Bromo from 4 unique perspectives: the secluded Argo Wulan sunrise spot with views of Bromo, less crowded panoramic view from Kedaluh hill, from the top of Mt Batok (Mt Bromo's twin brother), and from Mt. Bromo's crater rim.Exclusive Sunrise at Argo Wulan: Watch the spectacular sunrise from a quiet viewpoint, offering unobstructed views of Mount Bromo and Mount Batok, away from the crowds. You will reach this spot after hiking about 45 minutes.Easy trek to Kedaluh hill: After sunrise, take a short 5–10 minute walk to Kedaluh Hill — a quiet hilltop away from the usual crowds. From here, you’ll enjoy a sweeping panoramic view of Mount Bromo and the surrounding caldera.Hike to summit of Mount Batok: After sunrise, hike for about an hour to the summit of Mount Batok to get close-up views of the Bromo crater and the surrounding volcanic terrain.Climb to Mt Bromo crater Rim: Take 240+ steps to the crater rim of Mt Bromo to get up close to the smoke rising from within.Stunning Panoramic Views: From both Argo Wulan and Mount Batok, take in sweeping views of the entire volcanic landscape, including the famous Bromo crater and its active volcanic activity.Secluded and Peaceful Experience: Argo Wulan offers a serene escape from the busy tourist spots, providing a peaceful environment to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Bromo.Flexible 1st Day: You can arrive earlier to the Mt Bromo area and get acclimated or stop by Madakaripura Waterfalls to take in more sights (add-on available).About Mount BatokMount Batok is the volcano right next to Mount Bromo, and it’s a bit of an underdog. Hiking up Batok is a great way to get closer to Bromo’s crater and see the volcanic landscape from a whole new angle. The trek takes about an hour up and another hour down. It’s steep, but the views at the top make it totally worth it.Trail Difficulty: Moderate. The hike involves steep, uneven terrain and takes about 1 hour to ascend. Descending takes approximately 1 hour as well.About Argo WulanArgo Wulan is a hidden gem that most visitors to Bromo miss. It’s a 45-minute hike to a peaceful viewpoint at 2,600 meters above sea level. The trail is quiet and scenic, and at sunrise, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the misty volcanic plains—all without the usual crowds.TipsLunch and dinner are not included, your guide will take you to the local restaurant and you can pay cash there.Fitness Level: Moderate fitness is required for this hike, especially for Mount Batok’s steeper sections.Horse riding is available near Mount Bromo but is at your own expense (about IDR 200,000)At Bromo please bring a face mask to avoid inhaling ash or getting it in your eyes.Clothing: Dress in layers. Mornings are cold, but you’ll warm up as you hike.Gear: Bring a flashlight or headlamp for pre-dawn hikes, a camera for capturing stunning views, and a small daypack to carry essentials.Weather: Be prepared for unpredictable weather, especially during sunrise. Rain gear might be necessary.Additional NotesIf you arrive before 11.00 AM, visit Madakaripura waterfalls on route to mount Bromo is optional with additional cost.A motorbike taxi from Mount Penanjakan to Argo Wulan is available for around IDR 100,000-150,000, providing a faster alternative to walking
