Our first experience of a safari and we were certainly not disappointed. It all far exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is of such a high level and exceptionally clean. There are crisp white sheets and towels. Ample power points and even air conditioning. It’s just so peaceful. Fantastic outdoor starlight showers.
For the first night it was just the three of us, greeted by lovely smiling staff and ice cold refreshing Lemon grass towels.
Our guide for the 2 nights was Krishan - he is so experienced and committed to his job. His enthusiasm on each of our safari trips was just like he was seeing everything for the first time. He was equally as excited as we were at everything we saw.
Apparently, we were exceptionally lucky seeing 8 elephants, 5 leopards, 3 sloth bears, a crocodile, wild boars, spotted deer, barking deer & mongoose on our 4 trips.
Such a wonderful feeling being there early in the morning as all the activity starts.
We were amazed by the quantity and quality of the food throughout our stay. It was absolutely delicious and the staff and service exceptional.
Our thanks to everyone for such a memorable experience that will never be forgotten.
We should also mention the drivers who are very skilled at driving over the terrain & spotting animals.
Highly recommend. Thank you to all
My husband & visited Leopard Trails as the first stop on our honeymoon in Sri Lanka and it certainly set the bar high for the rest of the trip! We stayed in a luxury tent which was much nicer than we expected and rivaled many of the other hotels/resorts we stayed in. The food was delicious & you certainly will never be hungry! We did an evening safari, one full day safari, and an early morning safari which were all a lot of fun with lots of sightings. Thanks to our extremely skilled guide, Devaka, we saw elephants, sloth bears, leopards, monkeys, water buffalo, owls, and many cool birds. What really impressed me was the thoughtfulness and care that went into creating a unique experience for guests.
Wonderful camp, had a guide named varun who was absolutely great at spotting wildlife and had an in depth knowledge of the animals that inhabited the area. The camp itself was basic in a manner but equipped with anything you would need , hot shower, air conditioning etc. Food provided was great and the trips to the national park could have gone on forever. Great place to get away for a few nights whilst in Sri lanka.
What a wonderful adventure, surrounded by nature. We had Tent 5, or the newest tent , only four months old. Solid base with heavy duty material tent, adorned with beautiful furniture and objects. The en-suite was perfect with separation between WC and shower. Beds are comfortable and we were four to the room, which was fine - we had both large and two single beds. Staff here are more than accommodating. Between appeasing young children and dietary requirements, there really was nothing that was too much trouble. Our guide, Varun, was knowledgeable, intelligent and brimming with pride at the offerings in Wilpattu. His keen sight allowed us to experience many animals and birds. The driver was also adept and a great spotter. Most importantly, all staff work together to ensure a seamless experience, from making sure coffee is available first thing, to ringing ahead before returning from a drive to ensure juice and fresh towels were available. This is an incredible experience. Aircon in tent was very welcome. Porch with seating allowed sundowners to be enjoyed in nature. Food was excellent. Even picnic breakfast was brilliant. Highly recommend.
Had a fantastic stay at Leopard Trails and would most likely visit again shortly. The food was fantastic. So were the hosts/guides. I met one of the owners when I was there and his passion for wildlife is second to none. Having been one that has traveled across Africa, I can see these guys are on par with the best there. Do visit but avoid weekends and big holidays. !
