Would recommend this tour for a fun half day out. It’s nice to get out of the city and enjoy the views and cool morning air. Our guides (Summer, Winter, Snow and Spring) made us feel safe and we had a good laugh. Had a great homemade lunch as well where we met the cutest kittens Ice Cream and Chocolate. Sadly didn’t get a chance to meet their brother Garlic. 😂😂🩷

Very authentic experience. Chans has a great depth of experience and knowledge about the area, after growing up kayaking and fishing alongside the local fisherman. We kayaked through hidden lagoons only accessible by cave, where no other tourists were. We dug for saltwater muscles, collected oysters and tried our hand at fishing (no bites today). We prepared the muscles on our campfire on a secluded bay as the sun set and Chans (luckily) had bought some home cooked rice, pork and spring rolls so we didn’t go hungry. We kayaked after the sun went down through bioluminescent plankton and returned to cai beo village for a pot of tea with the local fisherman. Before we set off for home we stopped in at a local restaurant on the pier and sampled sashimi and oysters washed down by a few beers. It was the most perfect day, and an experience not many tourists would have the pleasure of experiencing in lan ha bay. I recommend this tour to everyone. It’s so important as tourists we see and experience the life of the people who inhabit and work the land we are coming to see. Loved every minute and would highly recommend Chans tours to anyone. Infact we have booked another one today!!

My two kids (9,12) and I did this experience and overall really enjoyed it. The kids LOVED it, despite being the only kids in the workshop. You will get wet and muddy. They gave us farmer clothing to change into, so I suggest bringing a change of undergarments as those will get potentially wet and muddy depending on water levels (water was quite high when we did it) or you could wear your swimsuit underneath and change afterwards. Bring a bag for wet items. After arrival, we changed into farmer clothes, then got to meet the water buffalo, feed her grass, and sit on her. It wasn't so much a ride, as sitting and maybe she'd walk a bit while eating. This took a bit to get through as it was 1 by 1. Then we tried out rice planting. It's not the time of year for it, but we got to learn the technique and try anyway. Mud was deep and water high--it was quite hard, but fun. We had plastic boots attached to plastic pants for this (but there were holes, so you still get wet). Next up was fishing with the bamboo cages. Both my kids caught fish, so that was fun. There was relaxing time next and you could go under the little waterfall if desired or into the cave. There isn't really swimming, as the water is just part of the rice fields/fish areas and quite muddy bottom. But the waterfall was fun. Next was cooking--we learned to stuff and roll spring rolls and betel leaves for frying and got to eat fresh fish as well. They also made steamed rice pancakes stuffed with mushrooms. My kids got to help make them, and loved that. After the meal, you had time to go in the cave or explore and relax a bit. My main complaint is the group was too big. We had about 14 people--6 of us English speaking (us three, a singleton, and a couple) and then a group of about 8 French speaking people all together. 14 was too much for the buffalo part as it took a while and made for some crowded areas on paths. The listing said up to 10 guests, which was not accurate. I think 6-8 is the ideal amount, unless all in one group. Bring a change of undergarments and a bag for wet items.

You'll also be copied on the gift email that the recipient receives so you know exactly when they have received their gift! :)

Can the recipient select their own date for the experience?

Yes, they can! Recipients have the flexibility to choose any date for their experience within a year of receiving the gift. It’s completely stress-free.

When will the Gift be sent?

You can select the date the gift is sent during checkout. The gift will be emailed to the recipient at 8am on the chosen date. The one-year validity period starts from this date.

How do I know when the Gift has been sent?

You’ll be copied on the gift email sent to the recipient, so you’ll know exactly when it’s been delivered.

Can Gift Experiences be exchanged for cash?

Gift cards are all about creating fun and meaningful memories! They cannot be exchanged for cash. But if your recipient prefers another experience, we can swap out their experience for a gift card.
