Review Body: I came across Med@59JCT while searching for a unique Father’s Day gift for both my husband and dad. We were not disappointed - and in fact, came away with not only a culinary and gastronomic experience, but also an afternoon of really stimulating and eye-opening conversations with the hosts, Al and Natalie (who I guarantee will be among the most interesting and unique Singaporeans you’ll ever meet). The setting of the private kitchen itself is an architectural and design marvel. The dishes and the stories behind them were tantalising (and my dad was so happy to take home leftovers). The wine choices were plentiful and the two we picked were delicious. Al and Natalie with their warm hospitality and intriguing life stories were just the icing on the cake. It was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had and highly recommend it.

Review Body: We had a cook and dine session with Al and Nat. The entire process of preparing our dinner from scratch was refreshing! They were very patient in explaining how to make every dish, and elaborated on ways to improve our culinary skills (how to roll the dough, how to best batter our meat). We had mediterranean food this time but we found out that they also have 6 other types of culinary to go with - so we definitely will have to come back again! They also have a very beautiful decorated house which prizes all their lovely treasures from all over the world. It was like going into a museum itself, seeing artifacts from all over the world! Nothing beats eating your own homecooked food - but with the highest quality of food ingredients! Truly thank Al and Natalie for making this experience so wholesome!

Review Body: We had a lovely time at Al’s STUNNING home, spending the morning cooking delicious Moroccan food. Al’s instructions were easy to follow and he showed us how to put together some mouthwatering dishes (while doing a lot of the heavy lifting himself, thanks Al!) The cooking included a lot of taste testing of Al’s most special ingredients from all over the world, from olive oil to REAL cinnamon, which our team really enjoyed. The meal itself at the end was a delicious way to just sit and spend time together over a delicious home cooked meal. 10/10 would recommend as a great way to spend time with friends, family or coworkers while learning something new.

Review Body: A fantastic experience! Al made our group feel immediately comfortable in his beautiful home in Joo Chiat. He kindly provided a vegetarian menu for our group, walking us through the history of the five dishes we prepared, taking time to explore ingredients together and peppering in personal stories to make the experience fun. As participants, you can do as much (hands-on) or as little (spectator) of the cooking you would like. The dishes were all delicious and (relatively) easy to recreate at home. A fun experience for our group of friends and I can envision it being just as great with family or co-workers. Five stars for Al and Med@59JCT!

Review Body: Absolutely incredible experience! We joined a five-course dinner cooking class led by chef Al, and it exceeded all expectations. The space itself is stunning, a beautifully restored shophouse. This is also a fantastic idea for team building. We cooked together, laughed a lot, and picked up genuinely useful cooking tips along the way. As someone who loves cooking, I found it both fun and practical. And of course important: the food was absolutely delicious. They offer other formats beyond cooking classes too like dinings. Highly recommend this experience, whether for a couple or a small group of friends or colleagues for team building.

Review Body: We had a lovely private cooking and dining session hosted by Al, who was friendly and easy to chat with, making the experience comfortable and enjoyable. The cooking process was simple and very beginner-friendly, so even those new to cooking would not find it challenging. That said, there isn't a lot of prep work involved, so the experience is probably better suited for smaller groups if everyone wants to get their hands dirty. The food turned out great, and our whole group left feeling satisfied. Al was also thoughtful in acknowledging our birthday celebration, which was a nice touch. We'll definitely be making these dishes at home!

Review Body: My team and I thoroughly enjoyed our end of year team-building activity and holiday dinner at Med@59JCT. The Peranakan shophouse was gorgeous, serving as the right ambiance for the activity. Al, our host, was a gracious teacher. He patiently took us through the steps to cook a five course Moroccan dinner from Matbutcha (Dip), Briouates (Cheese Samosas), Kohbz (Bread Loaf), Chicken Tajine and Orange and Cinnamon Salad. The dinner was scrumptious and our team had a lot of relaxed fun - perfect for the end of the year. Grateful to Seek Sophie for the complimentary Moroccan Iced Tea and wine as well. We shall definitely return!

Review Body: Very friendly and experienced chef who is generous with his sharing, not just of the cooking process but also on the ingredients and sources for good ingredients. My husband & I and our 3 guests really enjoyed the Cook & Dine session with Al and learnt very much. Delicious home-cooked food! We are excited to try out the recipes on our own. We will share with friends and family our wonderful experience so they can also enjoy his generous sharing and the hospitality of Al & his wife.

Review Body: Al was the best host! He was so patient in teaching us cooking noobs, and thanks to his guidance our end results turned out perfect! He recommended us to do Moroccan cuisine as we only had 2 pax, it was a new cuisine to us but glad we took his advice as the session was well-paced and serving size were just right. Definitely hope to recreate those amazing samosas and chicken tagine at home when we crave Moroccan food with what we've learnt and the tips Al gave us!

Review Body: We had a wonderful few hours learning to cook and bake some Spanish classics with Al. Super friendly vibe, relaxed atmosphere and informative…myself, my wife and my parents enjoyed getting busy in the kitchen and learning a few tricks from Al. The house is incredible too - very homely and filled with charm and history in every corner. We highly recommend the cooking experience and I’m sure we’ll go back for a feast sometime very soon.
