Forget the bucket list and follow the itinerary that nature has prepared for you
If you want Khao Yai with a real wildlife tracker instead of a fixed, rushed itinerary, this is the one to book. It is a private day out for just your group of up to 6, led by a local guide who has spent more than 40 years in this forest. He adjusts the route to your pace and to what the jungle is doing that day, whether that means following gibbon calls deeper into the trees, rerouting for an elephant sighting, or keeping the walk easy for kids and grandparents. That flexibility is rare here. Most Khao Yai day trips follow one set walk and one set timing. On this one, the standard 3.5km trail can be swapped for a tougher 5km+ jungle hike, or shortened and flattened for younger children, older travellers, or anyone who wants a gentler day. Past guests included both active hikers and a family with a 2-year-old, and still saw wildlife like gibbons, hornbills, deer, porcupines, snakes and elephants. You also get more than just a trek. The day includes both Haew Narok and Haew Suwat waterfalls, then finishes with a local dinner at Pak Chong night market. With park fees, meals, transport and wildlife photos included, it feels personal and local rather than like a standard park transfer. What to ExpectPrivate 11-hour Khao Yai day trip for up to 6 guestsHotel or hostel pickup and drop-off in the Pak Chong areaFlexible jungle walk led by a local tracker with 40+ years of forest knowledgeWildlife-focused trekking to look for gibbons, hornbills, macaques, deer, porcupines, snakes and, if you are lucky, elephantsTrail can be adjusted to your group, from an easier forest walk to a more challenging 5km+ hikeVisits to Haew Narok Waterfall and Haew Suwat WaterfallLocal lunch in the park, bottled water, and dinner at Pak Chong night marketPark entrance fees, insurance, and wildlife photos taken during the dayGood to KnowPickup outside Pak Chong is not included, but can be arranged as an add-onThis is best for travellers who want a slower, wildlife-led day rather than a fixed checklist tourThe route may change on the day based on your fitness level, weather, and recent animal movementExpect some walking on uneven forest trails. Closed shoes are a good ideaWildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but the day is built around tracking and maximising your chancesTour usually runs from 08:30 AM to 07:30 PM, but flexible upon guest's request.

Meet your host
Growing up beside Khao Yai National Park, this host has spent over 40 years learning the forest—its hidden trails, wildlife movements, and the feel of the jungle at different times of day. He first welcomed travellers through a small hostel, but guests soon encouraged him to share the place he knew so well. Since 2018, he has been guiding trips himself with trusted family members, keeping them flexible and unhurried. Instead of following a fixed timetable, they might spend hours tracking wild gibbons or walking deeper into the hills if the trail calls for it. It’s a very personal way to experience Khao Yai, shaped by someone who has known it since he was 15.
