Full-day wildlife & conservation trip in Kuching
If you want a wildlife day in Kuching that feels meaningful, this is perfect. It's full-day wildlife experience where you'll get to spot rare Irrawaddy dolphins (ethically), visit a turtle conservation centre, and explore mangroves. It’s a relaxed, meaningful day that combines wildlife encounters with real conservation work. You’ll start with a wildlife cruise to spot rare Irrawaddy dolphins along the Santubong coast. These dolphins are shy and hard to spot, so sightings are not guaranteed. Instead of chasing them (which many boats do), your captain reads the river, moves slowly, and waits. If the dolphins appear, it’s on their terms - which means a more natural, less stressful encounter. Along the way, you might also see proboscis monkeys, crocodiles and eagles. The second half of the day is just as special. You’ll visit a turtle conservation centre and meet the team protecting these turtles against the odds. Even outside peak season, it’s eye-opening to see the work they do.There’s also time for optional snorkelling or beach time near Satang Island. What to ExpectDolphin cruise along Santubong coastChance to spot rare Irrawaddy dolphinsVisit a turtle conservation centreExplore mangroves (possible croc sightings)Optional snorkelling or beach timePacked lunch and local guide includedTraveller TipsDolphin sightings: Sightings aren’t guaranteed. These are wild animals, and the boat doesn’t chase them (to avoid stressing them), so it depends on luck and conditions on the day.Turtle rescue: July to September is the best time to see turtles. Outside of that, the visit is still worthwhile — you’ll still learn a lot about their conservation work.Snorkelling: This isn’t the main focus of the trip, but it’s available if you’d like a bit of extra activity or time in the water.Group size: A minimum of 2 adults is required for the trip to run. If this isn’t met, you can reschedule, cancel, or top up to proceed.
