Butterfly wing art you’ll make by hand with real, ethical specimens
Admiring a butterfly is often a fleeting moment, but what if you had the rare chance to appreciate their beauty unhurried and up close? In this mindful butterfly wing mandala workshop, you’ll work with real, ethically sourced wings, each uniquely patterned and coloured by nature itself. Carefully preserved after the butterflies have lived out their natural lifespans, these wings become the building blocks of a meditative art form - one that honours life by giving it new meaning. You’ll spend time selecting from a wide variety of wings, noticing their differences, and slowly arranging them into a symmetrical mandala within a 15 × 15 cm frame. The process is deeply calming: part puzzle, part meditation, and part creative expression. To complete your artwork, you’ll choose a preserved butterfly for the centre (each with its own origin story!), bringing the piece together as a tribute to nature’s intricate design. The studio itself is a wonderful treasure trove of natural curiosities, making for great inspiration as you work. Your finished mandala becomes a striking decor piece for your home, or a thoughtful housewarming gift that carries a story beyond what meets the eye. Perfect for nature lovers, detail-oriented creatives, and anyone seeking a hands-on experience that feels both grounding and meaningful. What to ExpectLearn how to design your own butterfly wing mandala with expert guidanceUse ethically sourced butterfly and moth wings from specimens that lived full livesCreate your one-of-a-kind artwork within a 15 x 15cm display frameEnjoy a calm, thoughtful environment surrounded by fascinating specimensTake home a unique and meaningful piece of artGood to KnowThis is a join-in session, so you’ll be creating alongside other mindful makersAll materials are provided, including your frame and butterfly specimensEach mandala is unique depending on the wings you choose — no two are ever the sameSuitable for ages 10+Only the participant attending the workshop will be allowed for the workshop experience

Meet your host
Meet Vivian and Jivan, the duo behind Singapore’s first taxidermy workshops. Their work isn’t just about creating beautiful displays—it’s about honouring animals and sparking conversations about conservation in an unconventional way.
Vivian grew up in Ipoh, surrounded by animals, which led her to study zoology and work in conservation with WWF. There, she learned how preserving animals could be a way to study and appreciate them. Combining science with creativity, she now teaches others how to respectfully preserve specimens, from delicate butterflies to small mammals.
All specimens are responsibly sourced—from butterfly farms, wildlife centres, and even public donations—ensuring that every piece created is an ethical tribute to nature’s beauty.
