Charles Ng and Joan Lim are the thoughtful duo behind SakeMama, a quiet but meaningful presence in Singapore’s sake scene since 2013. Joan’s journey started in Japan with a bridal business, but it was the conversations she had in small towns — with brewers and locals — that sparked something more lasting. Together with Charles, she brought that spirit home, creating a place where sake isn’t just poured, but appreciated for its story and care. They work closely with small breweries, focus on sustainability (including cold-chain deliveries and an electric truck), and run tastings that feel more like friendly gatherings than formal events. For them, it’s all about genuine connection — with the sake, the makers, and the people who drink it.
