See Joo Chiat through a local food walk with real neighbourhood stories
[4 dates only in August!] If you want a Joo Chiat food tour with real local context, not just a list of famous eats, book this one. It’s led by food writer and long-time resident Desiree Koh, so the walk feels more like being shown around by someone who actually knows the neighbourhood than following a scripted route. Over 2.5 hours, you’ll taste your way from an Egyptian bakery to a tucked-away home café, with each stop chosen to show the many communities that shaped Joo Chiat.Instead of just hearing what to order, you’ll hear about the people behind each kitchen and how these places fit into Joo Chiat’s layered history. The small-group format keeps things slow and conversational, which suits this neighbourhood far better than a rushed tasting crawl. The walk ends at Miura, a tea and wagashi stand, for a quieter final stop and a glimpse of Joo Chiat’s newer creative side. Your ticket also includes a limited-edition Eastside neighbourhood zine, a sticker pack, and a 10% voucher if you want to stay on for tea and sweets after the tour. What to Expect2.5-hour join-in food walk around Joo Chiat with food writer, Desiree KohFood tastings at a mix of neighbourhood spots, including places like an Egyptian bakery and a home caféStories about the people, cultures, and history behind Joo Chiat’s food sceneSmall-group format with a slower, more personal feelIncludes a limited-edition neighbourhood zine, sticker pack, and 10% Miura voucherGood to KnowThis is a join-in walking tourExpect to be on your feet for around 2 hours, so wear comfortable shoes
