Assemble your own working mechanical movement in this one-of-a-kind workshop
Ever wondered what’s ticking inside your favourite timepiece? This hands-on mechanical watch movement assembly class in Singapore is your chance to find out — no prior experience needed. It's Singapore’s only independent studio offering beginner-friendly watchmaking sessions, personally led by a Swiss Master Watchmaker with over 30 years of experience (including 16 years at Audemars Piguet!).In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll sit at a proper mini watchmaker’s bench and assemble a working mechanical movement — the tiny engine that makes a watch tick using gears and springs instead of a battery. You’ll get to handle authentic tools, see how each part fits together, and bring your watch movement to life with your own hands. At the end, you’ll take it home with you to admire, tinker with, or even use to build your own watch someday. This is perfect for anyone curious about how mechanical watches work: watch lovers just starting out, hobbyists looking to dive deeper, or even families and small teams looking for a unique bonding activity. If you love thoughtful, skill-based experiences and stepping into a world few outsiders ever get to try, this one's for you. What to ExpectIntro to the world of Swiss watchmaking and the key milestones in its historyStep-by-step guidance to assemble your very own mechanical watch movementWork with professional tools at a proper mini watchmaker’s benchTest your assembled movement using a timegrapherTake home your functioning mechanical watch movement and a certificate of participationLight Swiss refreshments to enjoy during your sessionSmall class sizes for a personalised experienceGood to KnowAll tools and components are provided—just bring your curiosity! No experience needed and suitable for ages 12 and upThe session runs for about 3 hoursWhile you’ll take home your own mechanical watch movement, post-class support or servicing isn’t includedBe prepared to use fine tools and work with small, delicate parts—it’s fiddly but fun!

Meet your host
Michael Dubs and Phyllis Dubs-Lye started their business in 2024 with a simple goal—to make traditional watchmaking more accessible and appreciated by today’s learners and collectors. Michael, a real Swiss Master Watchmaker with over 30 years of experience (including 16 years at Audemars Piguet!), had always wanted to share the art and precision of horology with others, and together, they’ve built something that does just that. They're focused on keeping classes affordable while still keeping the business going. Looking ahead, they hope to support underserved communities and show young people there’s more than one path to success. It’s not just about watches for them—it’s about sharing skills, opening doors, and building a community where everyone feels welcome to learn.
