Review Body: This batik experience unexpectedly became one of the most relaxing experiences we did in Bali. My family and I had such a lovely time making our own batik pieces here. There were 8 of us, but everything still felt really organised and peaceful. I loved that it's located outside the busy centre of Ubud. When we first arrived, I actually wasn't sure if we were at the right place because it looked like we were entering someone's home. Turns out it is! Once we walked further in, it opened up into a beautiful open-air space. It was such a nice setting to spend a few hours being creative, with traditional Balinese music playing softly in the background. Our guide, Agung, started by sharing a bit about the history of batik and how it was once only worn by royalty. It was nice to learn about the tradition before trying it ourselves. The whole process of tracing, waxing and dyeing was honestly quite therapeutic. The waxing took a while to get the hang of, but the artists around were giving us guidance, touching up our pieces when needed, so that was nice. My husband and I chose a koi fish design, and they even suggested some dye colours and techniques that made the final result look much nicer. My whole family was so happy with how our pieces turned out! We spent about 3 hours there, which was enough time for our designs, but I can definitely see how it's easy to spend a longer time if you pick something more detailed. One tip: don't do this on the last day of your trip! The artists recommend that they help you fix and treat the cloth afterwards so the colours don't run, which takes a day. We were staying in Seminyak and they kindly arranged for a Grab delivery of our finished pieces to our villa the next day. Would recommend this experience if you want to do something more creative and hands-on, or just want to a slower, more calming experience in Bali :)

Review Body: I had a terrific time at the batik workshop. We arrived early from our previous activity, and the staff graciously welcomed us to rest and eat some of our own food as it was almost lunchtime. Then they offered to let us start an hour early, since we were ready. We could select from a wide variety of template designs to trace onto our 100x50cm pieces of fabric, and the process of tracing, applying the wax, and painting the fabric was so meditative. A rare break from our screens and constant stream of thoughts in our busy lives. Excellent service from the staff — they touched up every participant's piece ensure the wax lines were thick enough to get a good result, and when one of our group members spilled hot wax on her hand, they quickly took care of her and helped her to complete her piece. Although we were not staying in Ubud (their delivery area), the staff discussed with our driver and offered to send the batik pieces to his house the next day so he could deliver it to us when he came to pick us up. This was a highlight of our trip, for everyone from our oldest group member in her 70s to our youngest in her 20s.

Review Body: Five arts studio We are honeymooning in Bali and decided to book an art class. My husband and I have no previous experience and are so glad we signed up. The space is open and light and the team - family run business - guided us throughout each step, providing everything we needed to know in order to create two masterpieces. This was a wonderful bonding experience and a great way to immerse ourselves in local culture. One tip - if you’re not feeling ambitious, pick a simple design with less lines such as a few flowers vs a fish with million scales. I joked that I should’ve picked a smiley face. You’ll trace the image then outline in hot wax, then go back over any areas where the wax is thin before painting. This takes a long time with a complex image. But we felt right at home

Review Body: My girl friend and I had the most wonderful experience doing batik painting at Five Art Studio, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly! Our guide Dika was absolutely fantastic — incredibly knowledgeable about the art form and so patient in walking us through every step of the process. Neither of us had tried batik before, but Dika made us feel completely at ease and set us up for success. The whole session was relaxed, fun, and genuinely enjoyable. We left not only with beautiful pieces we made ourselves, but with a real appreciation for this traditional craft. If you’re in Ubud looking for a meaningful, hands-on cultural experience, Five Art Studio is a must-do. Ask for Dika — you won’t be disappointed!

Review Body: Batik workshop with a slice of Balinese home life _ Fantastic experience with or without kids. I went with my 5 year old and she had a great time. We got to customise one of the templates adding our own names and handprints. She made a batik fabric which was unique and will always remind us of the fun day we spent together. The instructors were extermely patient, positive and encouragingƒmaking it a fantastic day all round. Would definitely recommend doing this activity if staying in Ubud. One bonus is that they pick you up and drop you off from your hotel in Ubud. Lunch and water were included tooƒmaking it a must do experience in Bali. Great value for money _ Matur Suksma __

Review Body: Located outside the bustling area of Ubud, Five Arts Studio offered a peaceful environment that allows for so much creativity. I was guided by a few wonderfully patient teachers who guided and explained to me each step of the process, and learnt the true meaning of the word 'batik'. My piece was inspired by a piece hanging on the wall, so the artist himself showed me his technique to get the waves in the background. The studio itself offers five different types of workshops which include batik, wood carving and miniature Keliki painting. Thank you Seek Sophie for helping me discover this incredible gem, I would 100% return on my next Bali trip :-)

Review Body: Had a lovely afternoon at Five Arts Studio making a piece of Batik. The artists instructing me were patient in teaching/demonstrating each step before handing it over to me, and were great about just letting me do my thing without interfering unless I asked for help or was about to injure myself with hot wax! Got to see a lot of the artists' own works as well, whether batik or Balinese keliki painting or carved pieces. Great homestead and studio setting feat. Rosy the doggo:) I spent a little too long on my piece so they dried and very kindly delivered it to my hotel the next day. Would def recommend a session or two here!

Review Body: If I could put more stars I would! Such a good time if you like crafting! Learning about how to make Batik is great in itself, we learn and get to practice every step of the real thing. The staff were amazing, helpful, and smiling, I tried something quite difficult and they helped me choose the right colour and make subtle shades. Be careful you need way more than 3h to make something complex. The staff has been kind enough to finish the final steps for me and to deliver it to my hotel. But I would have needed 5h in total. And the staff is not rushing you, so you have no idea you are late ahah.

Review Body: Batik painting was a lovely relaxing & creative way for the family to spend an Ubud morning. There was a nice buzz in the studio, and plenty of staff to show us the technique. First you pick a pattern or design your own, then you trace it with pencil. Then you use hit wax to trace over the pencil, this is tricky but the staff give you plenty of tips. Then you go downstairs to paint the batiks, that but is easy, choosing colours & mixing paints is fun. Once dry, the staff fix the dye and wash off the wax. And at the end of the activity you have a great souvenir of your trip to Ubud.

I am a repeat returning artist every time IÍm in Ubud. The studio is surrounded with beautiful nature and WayanÍs working family farm, as well as many inspiring original works of art. The fees are a small price to pay for such supportive attention, encouragement and assistance to produce your own original souvenir of your stay in Ubud. Review Body: We are soooo glad we signed up! great morning of fun with patient teachers who said nothing we did was a mistake. Loved every minute of learning the process of batik while enjoying traditional Balinese snacks, Bali coffee and tea and our entertaining hosts. Wonderful paintings and batik items for sale especially GustiÍs work.. Wayan one and Wayan two were funny, forgiving when I decorated the studio with pink dye (including myselfƒ) and patient in teaching us. Definitely book this event .. good for families too

Review Body: Great activity, the team are so skilled and had a lot of patience with us. Lovely way to spend a few hours in a calm environment to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. I really enjoyed it as a creative person, and even my brother (who is less creative) had a good time because they provide you with templates and guidance, so you can't go too wrong! And of course you create your own unique souvenir, I've already worn mine as a sarong and I loooove the bright colours :) Would recommend!

Review Body: Highly recommend five art studio team! The pickup and drop off from the hotel was provided. We were caught in traffic and the crew was patient and waited in our lobby. The studio is conducive for the batik painting and it oversees the rice terraces. The crew were supportive and gave a helping hand whenever it was needed. Instructions were clear and the outcome far exceed our expectations. Will highly recommend this workshop for anyone interested in batik painting

Review Body: Beautiful setting, water and delicious banana fritter snack was provided. Our instructors were very friendly and relaxed, and understanding when we were late due to blocked roads. Under their guidance we all felt confident and made beautiful creations that we could feel proud of. They did the hot wax work for our kids (3 and 6 years old) but the kids could do their own tracing and dyeing which they loved.

Great lesson on the steps to create a Batik painting and then hands-on advice and help during the process on how to make sure what you create is beautiful and special. Review Body: Very fun activity. You can choose a design, make the outline in wax and then paint it. They help you very well. It says 9 am - 12. But for us it took longer. We were ready at 13 pm but the batik had to dry. They offered to bring it to our guest house later that day so we could go on with our day. Very friendly! They also have other workshops (woodcarving,..)

Review Body: This studio is in a beautiful location. They provided a lot of options for your design. The steps were easy enough, you just need a lot of patience yourself to do it. The artist was there if you needed him, but pretty much left you in peace to work. Despite all my goofs of wax blobs and paint blobs, it still turned out beautiful. A morning well spent!
