We felt safe from the beginning, our tour guide took us in our destination and on the way he made us feel welcome, comfortable and was answering any questions we had with details. He is a local and he knows a lot about Bali and it's traditions. I was so happy we choose his service I would do it again and again !!!
Highily recomended !
It was my first time hiking and the driver edy was extremely patient and friendly. I forgot to bring my jacket and he even brought one for me! He was punctual and extremely nice, kept asking us if there is anywhere we would like to go to get some stuffs before heading back. Both the tour guides who were with us were extremely patient. I kept slipping and holding onto their hands throughout and they were so patient with me. They also took amazing pictures. Best tour ever. You won’t regret :)
The early morning start was the beginning of an enjoyable climb to the top of Mount Batur. It's best to start this tour from around Ubud as it's a 2 hour drive from Canggu, Seminyak etc. We started the climb around 4am in total darkness guided by Ketut who was always positive, knowledgeable and friendly. The lone torch was enough to guide our way and the start of the climb is very genteel as the climb progressively gets steeper and more challenging. Luckily the weather was fine so the ground underfoot was dry and stable - but I imagine in the wet it could be slippery and far more difficult.
We stopped a few times during the climb for a quick rest and chat as we met up with others following the same journey. After a while we reached the top to the usual breakfast of eggs, banana and Bali coffee.
Just before sunrise we moved on to a prime location and watched in awe as the sun rose above Lombok and lit up the valley. It was definitely worth the early rise to get a glimpse of Mt. Agung and Lombok in the distance.
Ketut suggested walking around the volcano rim where we came across the other local inhabitants and many, many others who'd made the same trek.
From here we enjoyed a brisk and easy descent back to the car park for yet another coffee (how quickly you get used to that).
This climb isn't super difficult so certainly achievable for those with an average level of fitness. Ketut was a great guide and my driver also did an awesome job getting me to and from the volcano keeping me awake with excellent English.
My experience with the driver was good, peaceful. The tour guide was simply amazing, he was friendly, funny, energetic and always ready to help. Got us a neat view of the scenery and once we were heading down, it was a wonder experience as he taught us was to head down which was awesome, kept us safe and had a exhilarating trek/jog down the mountain
The tour guide is amazing, the most energetic and cheerful tourguide, compared to others. He's able to make a tiring trip up the mountain seems relacing and enjoyable. The trip to the peak of Mt. Batur is definitely worth it. The mesmerizing scenary of the sunrise topped of with a blanket of clouds was the best thing that I've ever seen.
