Learn the basics of bamboo carpentry and joinery with bamboo master-craftsmen in the traditional Balinese village of world-famous bamboo carpenters (in Abiansemal 30min from Ubud, Canggu and Sanur). Learn about bamboo joinery techniques, why and how bamboo is treated and how to design with bamboo... What to expectYou will learn techniques for bamboo joinery and make your own piece of bamboo furniture to take home with you (or donate to our Eco-centre projects). We will start with a 30 min talk about bamboo types, treatment, tools and design elements. Our carpenters will give a demonstration of bamboo joinery techniques (T-join, Fishmouth join and Y-join) and then you will get to try for yourself and make a small stool/table design of your own.   • Notes: Our location is in Belega - the traditional village of bamboo builders (20-30 minutes SE from Ubud). It's good to arrive around 8.30am for introductions and to get acquainted with our team. (If it's too early we can arrange to start later also). Lunch is at 12pm-1pm (included) and we usually finish the workshop around 3.30pm. Please let us know any dietary requirements in advance. We have local Nasi Campur (vegetarian available).

Bamboo Creative's Ecocentre project based in Belega (near Ubud) with local craftsmen and builders is where they develop sustainable affordable design techniques with Bamboo and Natural/Earthen Materials.
