Best for Couples

Sidemen Bali, Indonesia / Mekong Delta, Vietnam / Yogyakarta, Indonesia / Mt Bromo, Indonesia .... AND MORE!
Editor’s Note
Even if you’ve been together forever, these adventures will bring back that early spark. These are the kind of couple getaways where you discover something new together - like sleep in treehouses, swim with manta rays, and have those ‘did we really just do that?!’ moments.

If you’ve seen those dreamy treehouses on IG, they’re probably in Sidemen. Sidemen is like Ubud before the crowds - no traffic, just rice paddies, artisan villages, and the most romantic treehouses. Stay a couple of nights at a gorgeous treehouse, make jewellery with a local artisan family, and take a slow hike through the paddies. Perfect for romantic weekends.

Sleep in dreamy treehouses, away from Bali's crowds.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Gorgeous romantic treehouses
Craft with local artisan families
Hike beautiful rice paddies

The Mekong Delta is like Vietnam’s version of Venice, with fewer tourists and better food. Most people do this on a day trip but those take you to the crowded spots.

Spend a night or two, cycle through the rice fields, float past dawn markets, and see how rice paper & pottery are made. It’s slow travel, and perfect for couples who want something relaxed but full of character.

Slow down in Vietnam’s Venice, minus the tourists.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Stay in a lovely homestay
See 300-year old pottery culture
Visit floating markets

Yogyakarta is one of those places that has it all but still flies under the radar. It's like Siem Reap, but has more going on! You’ve got sunrise temple visits, underground cave tubing, volcano jeep rides and local artists who’ll teach you batik & village grannies you can cook with. Plus, there are also seriously nice stays here if you want to pamper yourself.

Most underrated gem, with something for everyone.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Gorgeous UNESCO temples
Home of Batik
Jeep around an active volcano

The stays around Bromo are usually very basic and not very romantic. But we found this seriously nice experience which is perfect for a couple looking to see Bromo, but not rough it out. Here, you get to see sunrise over Bromo, followed by spa treatments, and one of the nicest mountain villas around. It's the fancy way to do Bromo for a special treat.

Surreal volcanic landscapes, with no hike & serious pampering.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Surreal Dune-like landscapes
No climb volcano
Spa treatment & luxury stay

Komodo is made for couples who want something epic but easy. You’ll sail around in glam boats, snorkel with mantas and turtles, picnic on a pink beach and see actual dragons. It feels like the Maldives and Jurassic Park had a baby, but without the price tag. Perfect if you want to feel super far away, without roughing it.

Da Lat is the place for couples who don’t want to do much, and that’s the charm. Stay in a charming homestay, visit a coffee farm, sip hot chocolate in mountain air, and eat really good Vietnamese comfort food from the local farms.

The cool temperatures here makes you feel like you're in Australia, so you can hike without sweating a ton.

Chill mountain getaway, with charming coffee homestays.

Cool mountain weather
Farm-fresh Vietnamese food

Yala is Sri Lanka’s most famous national park, and for good reason - it’s one of the best place in Asia to spot wild leopards. You’ll stay in a luxe safari tent, head out on sunrise & sunset game drives and get back for a bubble bath and a cocktail. It’s a short drive from Colombo, so it’s perfect for a quick escape that still feels totally wild. It gets crowded though!

See wild leopards & elephants without flying too far
COOL THINGS HERE:
Top place in Asia for leopards
See wild elephants on safari
Lots of really nice safari stays

Yes, Halong Bay is touristy. But there’s a reason it’s on every honeymoon list. You’ll cruise past limestone cliffs in a floating five-star hotel, kayak into caves, and watch sunset from your bathtub. There's lots of activities on a cruise but the activities aren't the point here. It's just to pamper yourself in seriously nice nature surroundings.

This isn't fancy, but to us it's a perfect couple adventure. You’ll sleep on a cosy riverboat, drift through lush jungle, and wake up to orangutans and proboscis monkeys. Here the local community has come together to protect their wildlife & ecosystem against big palm oil. So if you're a couple who loves adventure, wildlife and want something with a lot of heart, this is it.

Wake up to wild orangutans on a jungle riverboat.
COOL THINGS HERE:
World's orangutan capital
Stay on a jungle riverboat
Easy jungle hikes

Sumba is where the cool kids go for their honeymoon. If you want stays right out of a movie set & beaches with no crowds (but wild horses), this is it. Despite the luxe stays, Sumba’s charm is that it’s still raw, rugged and mostly untouched — especially the east. You'll find surreal landscapes, dancing trees, tribal festivals & wild horses. It’s a wild, special kind of magic

TOP
TIP
The West is where the super nice stays are & the tribal culture. For gorgeous landscapes (like dancing trees), head East. We recommend a East-West roadtrip.
Perfect combo of wild, untouched and seriously glam.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Wild horses on the beach
Iconic luxury cliffside stays
Surreal, wild landscapes

Ho Chi Minh City might not scream romance, but we love it for a couple’s getaway. It’s got more edge and character than Hanoi, and it’s perfect for a fun weekend. Try a hidden apartment bar with cool cocktails, head to a late-night noodle stall, or go for a modern supper club. Plus if you want to extend your trip with some nature, you can head to Mekong Delta for a night!

Romantic in that gritty, Wong Kar Wai kind of way.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Hidden cocktail speakeasies
Cool supper clubs
Amazing street eats

If you want to dive (or just want to see the ocean at its best), Raja Ampat is the place. This is the most biodiverse marine area in the world - it literally doesn’t get better. Stay in overwater huts, dive with reef sharks and clouds of fish, swim in a jellyfish lake, and feel like you’re at the edge of the world. It’s remote and very pricey, but 100% worth it.

One of the best and most remote places on earth for diving.

Swim in rare jellyfish lake
75% of coral species live here

Khao Sok is just a couple of hours from Phuket but feels like another world. Here you'll find the world's oldest rainforest and Thailand's last wild elephants. There's lots of stays here - from basic to luxe. But our fave for couples is glamping - it’s wild, peaceful and super romantic. Like a jungle honeymoon without the hard bits.

Lombok’s secret Gilis are what the Bali beaches used to be – quiet, wild and seriously pretty. You’ll hop from one island to the next, snorkel off the boat, and maybe do a short hike or two for sunset. It’s perfect for couples who want beach time, but without the scene. If you're up for a challenge, you can also hike Rinjani while you're here or bike the epic Lombok loop!

Wilpattu has the same wildlife as Yala – leopards, elephants, sloth bears – but with a fraction of the jeeps. You’ll likely be one of just 10 vehicles in the whole park (instead of 200 at Yala!). It’s peaceful, remote and perfect if you want a safari with no crowds. There are fewer choices of stays compared with Yala, but you'll still find budget to luxe options here.

Asia's best kept secret for leopard safaris.
