Kuching is perfect for nature and wildlife lovers. You can cover a lot in a short time and it's perfect for solo travellers, couples, kids and families.

Here you can see quirky cat statues, see the longhouses of Sarawak tribes, visit rescued orangutans and go on a river safari to spot wild dolphins. The food here is also AMAZING.

TOP
TIP
Day 1: Explore town & try Sarawak Laksa. Day 2: Jungle kayak adventure. Day 3: Orangutan sanctuary & Bidayuh village.
Easiest place to see orangutans in Asia and home to vanishing tribes.
COOL THINGS HERE:
See rescued orangutans ethically
Fascinating local tribes
Insanely good Sarawak Laksa

Mekong Delta is just a short drive from Ho Chi Minh City, and the perfect chill getaway.

The main thing to do here is to stay in charming homestays overlooking the delta, with yummy home-cooked meals. Cycle, take a sampan to floating markets, and try pottery.

The Venice of Vietnam, with chill homestays and floating markets.
COOL THINGS HERE:
World’s largest floating market
Boat through coconut jungles
Super cute family-run homestays

Krabi is for when you want easy island vibes without the Phuket crowds. It's touristy but not so bad that you'll need to travel for miles to find anywhere with heart.

Here you can go on longtail boats that take you to secret beaches, kayak to mangroves and walk with rescued elephants. There's not a huge amount to do, but it's enough for a chill beach weekend!

Laid-back island adventure, without the chaos of Phuket.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Island hop on a longtail boat
Walk with rescued elephants
Climb SEA’s most iconic cliffs

Think of Chiang Mai as the Goldilocks of getaways: Not too touristy, not too raw.

Whether you're traveling with a toddler or a group of friends, you'll find it here: ethical elephant sanctuaries, temples in the sky, sticky waterfalls, amazing street markets and remote villages. It's probably the only place in SEA where we can guarantee there's something for everyone.

TOP
TIP
If you want to see elephants, only a handful of elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai are truly ethical. Look out for no-touch, no-bathe, no-feed sanctuaries!
See elephants the right way, plus art villages and sky temples.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Rare place for ethical elephants
Perfect mix of art, food & nature
Temples in the clouds
Best for everyone

Don't let the name fool you - Mount Bromo doesn't involve much climbing. It's mostly a jeep ride in the volcanic sand, and then some stairs (about 20-30 minutes) to the caldera. And for very little effort, you'll be rewarded by seriously surreal Dune-like landscapes!

It gets crowded on weekends, but there are routes you can take to skip (some of) the crowds.

TOP
TIP
If you have more time, you can also go to the most epic falls in Indonesia, Tumpak Sewu and climb stunning Mt Ijen as part of your three-day adventure.
Surreal Dune-like landscapes, with the easiest hike in Asia.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Sunrise over volcano crater
Jeep around the sea of sand
Asia’s easiest volcano trek

Did you know there's a lake in Thailand where you can go on a wild elephant safari? It's Khao Sok, a 3-hour drive from Phuket/Krabi and one of Thailand's best kept secrets.

Here you can dive to sunken villages, stay in a lakeside bungalow (where you can jump into the water) and go on river safaris where you may see wild elephants if you're lucky!

TOP
TIP
Avoid high season (Dec-Mar) as it gets very chaotic in Khao Sok. The other months are really nice! Also June to Oct is rainy season but it's often light rain.
Thailand's oldest rainforest, with wild elephants. Raw and heartfelt.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Rare place to see wild elephants
Stay in floating jungle huts
Sunken cave visit & jungle hikes

If you're looking to relax with some things to do on the side, go on a luxe boat cruise at UNSECO Halong Bay!

The views are great, but the main highlight of Halong Bay has to be their seriously nice boats, which are like floating luxury hotels. Most of the boats here have beautiful balconies for sunset drinks and bathtubs overlooking the iconic karst landscapes.

TOP
TIP
For fewer crowds, find a boat that takes the Lan Ha Bay or Bai Tu Long routes. They're part of the UNESCO Halong area with the same views, but have fewer boats.
Vietnam’s most iconic views. Touristy, but worthwhile.
COOL THINGS HERE:
UNESCO bay with gorgeous views
Seriously nice luxury boats
Kayaking, caves & fishing village

Even if you’ve been to Bali many times, you’ve probably never heard of Munduk. It’s the raw, remote heart of the island, with ancient jungle, a sacred lake you can kayak across, and waterfalls that are better than Sekumpul.

If you're a nature lover, this place is a must — peaceful, wild, and nothing like Bali’s usual beach scene. Come here for a day, or even better camp here!

TOP
TIP
You can do Munduk as a day trip but our favourite way to experience it is to camp overnight by the sacred lake. It’s raw, peaceful, and good for the soul.
Bali's wild heart, with ancient forests and sacred lakes.
COOL THINGS HERE:
Bali's most ancient forests
Huge waterfalls without crowds
Gorgeous temple on sacred lake

Ninh Binh is like Ha Long Bay on land — but way more chill and way less touristy. You get huge limestone cliffs, rice paddy views, boat rides through caves, and ancient temples.

Rent a bicycle and ride through the countryside, climb up Hang Mua for epic views, and take the slow paddle boat at Trang An — rowed by tiny Vietnamese aunties with serious arm strength.

TOP
TIP
You can do Ninh Binh on a day trip, so you can spend a day or two exploring Hanoi as well on the same trip. So you'll get both city & nature vibes!
Vietnam's ancient capital with Halong Bay vibes, without the crowds.
COOL THINGS HERE:
See UNESCO river caves by sampan
Cycle through rice paddies
Vietnam's ancient capital

Most people only think of Mt Kinabalu, but Kota Kinabalu has lots more going on.

Go snorkelling, white water rafting, take a colonial train ride, paddleboard at sunset, or spot fireflies on a river safari. The street food is yummy and the sunsets here are gorgeous.

If you’re craving nature, good food, and a bit of adventure, it’s a perfect (and unexpected) weekend escape.

Komodo is one of our favourite places in the world, and now super easy to get to with direct flights from Singapore and KL!

You can do a 1-3 day island-hopping boat trip here to some of the most unreal spots in the world. See iconic views at Padar Island, hike with wild Komodo dragons, chill on pink beaches and snorkel with Manta Rays and giant turtles!

TOP
TIP
The best time to go is after peak season from Sept to Dec - this is when the dragons and the mantas both like to come out. Skip rainy season in Jan-Mar

Only place to see wild dragons

Snorkel with manta rays & turtles
