Review Body: The car trip from Ubud to the start pointing point, Mt Batur Sunrise Trekking’s base camp, took 2 hours. The base camp had clean toilets and a sheltered waiting area. We met our guide, Putu, who gave us bottled water. He informed us the hike is 3.5km each way with an ascent of 7 to 800m. The trek itself was uphill all the way with a few short and downhill slopes. We started at 3:30pm and reached the summit at 5pm. The track is well used and mostly on dry fine gray volcanic soil. Although it is supposed to be the easiest and fastest route, it is quite steep at places. There are 4 to 5 rest points with benches looking to mount Abang and the lake. At the summit, there are many benches and a shed selling drinks and coffee and snacks. Prices are of course higher as the vendor has to carry the drinks up daily. Bring your own water if one 600ml bottle is not enough. The scenery is breathtaking. We were lucky enough to have a clear view of Mt Abang and Mt Agung behind. Putu showed us the steam vents and took pictures for us at various spots of the caldera. Then we had a light meal of banana, bread, hard boiled eggs and mandarin oranges. We waited till sunset at shortly after 6pm and made our way down. Headlights were provided after dark and we took one hour to reach the base camp. Highly recommend this day trip. Putu took good care of us, showing us where to step to avoid slipping. The driver was also very punctual and drove safely.

Review Body: We did the trip with Putu. First of all we want to thank him for making the trip so amazing. Putu is a humble, knowledgeable guide with 25 years of experience. He told us about the area, explained about Batur and we had a good tempo on the way up. You can tell he is so invested in making the you happy and also brought some food for us and was very honest that we didnt need to rent jackets sin3ce what we brought was good enough. The wetrip itself was amazing, even though it was too cloudy to see the sunset, we still got have beautiful views from the top. We saw the Caldera with smoke and clouds flying around which was looked dramatic. Would definitely recommend to do this tour with Putu! We liked down through the jungle in the dark and could see the Moon and the stars while hearing the forrest come alive with sounds, even for me who has been guiding on glaciers and hiking alot and been on 14 days winter expeditions in the mountains the was a special experience that I wont forget.
My pictures dont do it justice since I have an old phone.

Review Body: We booked for the sunset hike and we were picked up from our villa on time and dropped off at the base camp where we met our guide Putu. Putu was great, he was super friendly and provided great snacks along the way! I suffer with vertigo and half way up I started to get a little dizzy and he was very supportive and kept reassuring me that if we wanted to go back down it was okay. He offered me food and suggested we rest for longer and I made the decision to continue the hike and he kept checking on me asking if I'm okay. We reached the top and I was so glad I decided to continue, although it was cloudy and there wasn't much sunset, it cleared up enough to get some really nice views and we could see the smoke from the volcano.
Putu also took some pictures of myself and my husband and he was just a pleasure to hike with. The mountain can be a little tricky to navigate both up and down so I was relieved we had someone who does this everyday!
Thanks Putu 🙏

Review Body: The sunset hike was AMAZING. We had a spectacular host Putu who was super kind and the happiest person we have met. As we went on this hike during wet season we risked being stuck in the clouds. After arriving at the top we were surrounded by clouds, which was beautiful, but we did hope to see the sunset. We decided to stick it out and wait to see if the clouds would clear… and they did. The view was perfect, and Putu was so amazing with taking photos and giving us the best experience possible. This is the best hike I have done and is relatively easy if you have some experience. I would recommend this hike to anyone and highly suggest Putu as a guide. Seek Sophie is an amazing website to book through as they take away all the hassle and make it simple and fun. Thankyou so much Putu and seek Sophie, we will definitely be using this website for all future trips :)

Review Body: Went there during the day for the “sunset trekking” to avoid the sunrise crowd, we were very glad we did as we were the only ones on the path and only saw another small group at the top, which made for a different experience.
We chose pick up from our hotel in Canggu followed by the hike with our local guide Made who was very nice. We’re quite fit in the family so it took us around 1h30 to go up and about the same to come down. The path is not too difficult but quite slippery at times because of the loose rocks. The poles that the guide gave us turned out to be very useful. I would recommend them, they are serious.
Just a tip: if you don’t use WhatsApp normally, it would be a good time to install it on your phone as that’s how you’ll communicate with the company and the driver.

Review Body: Such an incredible experience! Our driver picked us up promptly and our guide Putu was so lovely and kind. Putu has trekked the mountain countless times but still appreciates the beauty of the hike. The trek is a little tough but your effort is so rewarded when you reach the summit. Putting your hands over the active steam vents is so amazing and we were blessed with rolling clouds, sunset and a full moon to guide us back down. Putu knew all the best spots to stop and take photos and also how to keep us safe for the trickier parts of the trek. One of our favourite things to do in Bali and my now fiancé and I got engaged at the summit so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Review Body: We did the sunset trek and it was an amazing experience! Our guide was fantastic, not only helping us struggle up the reasonably challenging slopes (although the stunning views were most certainly worth it) but giving us lots of interesting information about the area. We even had eggs and banana cooked by an active volcano at the top! I would definitely recommend getting the transfer as we tried to get a taxi back afterwards but didn’t realise they don’t really operate in the area. Luckily the tour operator saved us and very kindly took us all the way back to Ubud. Brilliant day all round and really good tour company with excellent tour guides! Highly recommend.

Review Body: My driver Ajik was friendly and kind. He was a very safe driver and spoke English well.
Putu was my guide up Mt Batur. He was very kind and looked after me very well. He was knowledgeable.
I was so happy to climb Mt Batur in the afternoon. I was the only tourist there on the whole volcanic rim. After a fabulous meal of eggs, banana and chocolate we headed down (much easier)
The climb was challenging but the guide let me walk at my own pace and stopped when I needed
This was such a highlight of my trip to Bali! I would really recommend it to everyone!

Review Body: We had a wonderful time hiking Mount Batur at sunset with Putu our guide…he was most helpful and friendly. It was an excellent choice to go up during day time on the usual path: very few tourists, plenty of time there , such delicious food he cooked for us on the volcano rocks…he was as available as he gave us our space too.
When coming back at night he was so kind to take us on the easier yet longer path that’s usually used by bikes…that’s so much better for knees and way less tiring. We really loved the experience, and appreciate his work and effort.

Review Body: The views were lovely, as was our guide, who took some great photos and videos of us at the top. Cooking eggs on the volcano steam was a novelty. Not too difficult of a climb up for most fitness levels, though very slippery coming back down due to the nature of volcanic grit. Climbing down after dark was very hard, even with head lamps/torches. I fell 4 times (and have hiked 6 other volcanoes without falling, just never in the dark!). Be prepared for the possibility of scrapes, bruises and sprains.

Review Body: Amazing experience climbing up Mt Batur during sunset. We didn’t come across a single other person during our trek (1.5 hours up, 1 hour down), and even at the summit, there were only a small number of people. If you’re trying to decide between sunrise and sunset, I would recommend sunset if you’re after less crowds! Our guide was fantastic, letting us know facts and info about the volcano and region, and our driver was very friendly and communicative. Highly recommend :)

Review Body: Our driver and guide were absolutely amazing! On the drive from UBud to base camp, we stopped at a coffee plantation where we had the opportunity to sample delicious local coffee, tea, and chocolate We chose the sunset hike and were fortunate to enjoy stunning views of the mountain with minimal rain. Our guide was very attentive and prioritized our safety throughout the journey. He was local and knew the area well. Overall, it was a fantastic adventure!

Review Body: We had a great time hiking mt batur with our guide. They also came to pick us up at our hotel (the road to get to the start of the trekking was quite huphill with lot of bumps so be prepared).the hike took us roughly 1.3 hours to get to the top. Included in the tour we got climbing sticks, some basic food and water. Putu is very knowledgeable and he guided us throughout the entire journey. Really recommended, great experience with a breathtaking view

Review Body: We had a great hike with Madi (sorry if the spelling is incorrect!). We were picked up from our accommodation in Ubud, provided with water and were on our way. The view from the top was lovely but mostly cloudy so we asked Madi if we could start the descent before sunset to get partway down before it was dark and he was very accommodating. He helped us get down safely. Would highly recommend if you want to avoid the early alarm and crowds at sunrise!

Review Body: We went on the sunset tour. Our guide was wonderful. He patiently helped us get to the top and then back down in the dark. He cooked us a nice meal at the top. The scenery at the top was amazing. We got to see the sunset slowly down on one side and the smoke rise up from the crater on the other side. We simultaneously felt the warmth and the cool breeze. And there were only a handful of other groups there. Well worth doing.

Review Body: I’ve done the sunrise trek with my mum and our guide Putu. It was an amazing experience. The driver was keeping us updated in advance of the weather conditions, and all informations about pick up/drop off. Our guide was adapting his pace to us during the trekking, taking breaks when needed, and spending time at the top of the Mount for pictures. Everything was smooth and pleasant. Thanks again for this experience!

Review Body: The guide was super friendly and helpful!
We knew upfront that the weather was not great, but that did not change that this was a very pleasant experience.
Walking sticks, water and snacks were provided plus there was a possibility to purchase additional drinks on top of the vulcano (ex. bintang). Please note that you will need cash for this.

Review Body: Our long-experienced guide Putu was very helpful and kind. He provided food and water and helped our 7-year old daughter when climbing down. He was very caring and always made sure we are fine. He also contacted us via whatsapp and helped us find the meeting point. I can highly recommend Putu. Also our 10-year old son enjoyed the sunset hike.

Review Body: It was so beautiful and we loved going for sunset and missing all the crowds! We took our four year old who made it up by herself (mostly) and all the way back down too so definitely do-able with kids. We were lucky to be the only ones in our group so could go at our own pace and we got some great photos at the top thanks to our guide!

Review Body: We had a great time, even if we were unable to complete the full ascend, as we did not feel confident about the grip of our shoes during the descent.
Putu, our guide, is knowledgeable, generous, patient and warm. We enjoyed so much the conversation with him!
