Learn hidden Southeast Asian food traditions from a culinary historian!
Most people never think twice about the tools used in everyday cooking. But in this experience, you’ll discover how humble pastry moulds hold centuries of cultural stories, migration, and forgotten rituals. It’s a deep dive into food heritage… through objects you’d never expect.Hosted by Jasmine, a collector who’s completely obsessed with traditional moulds (in the best way), this is not a class or a dry history talk. She’s spent 20 years tracking down rare moulds from across Asia - from ancient Greek bread stamps to Peranakan Ang Ku Kueh moulds - and each one has a wild, surprising story. Her passion is infectious, and her home is like a cosy, living museum filled with secrets most people walk right past. You’ll sip tea in her garden, taste handmade Peranakan kueh, and choose to either paint your clay kueh magnet made from antique moulds OR make fresh kueh from scratch — all while swapping stories with someone who truly lives and breathes culture and craft.During the session, Jasmine will guide you in making one of these traditional kuehs: Kueh Koya, Ondeh Ondeh, or Kueh Dadar. This is for anyone who loves stumbling across hidden gems and meeting people who are obsessed with what they do (in the best way!).What to ExpectLearn the hidden meaning behind kueh shapes and symbolsTouch and explore Jasmine’s rare collection of heritage mouldsEnjoy Peranakan tea and handmade kueh in her peaceful gardenPaint your own clay magnet using real heirloom moulds OR learn to make traditional kuehHear quirky, personal stories behind how each mould was found

Meet your host
Jasmine is the kind of host who makes you feel right at home the moment you step through her door. A lifelong collector of old kitchen moulds and tools, she’s turned her curiosity into an experience that’s as warm as it is eye-opening. With a Masters in Southeast Asian Studies and a Peranakan background, Jasmine shares not just her collection—but the stories, traditions, and quiet details behind each piece. Her sessions aren’t held in a slick studio, but in her own home, surrounded by treasures she’s tracked down from Indonesia to Greece.
