Discover local produce while cooking, competing, and connecting with your team.
If you're planning a team bonding experience in Singapore and want something that feels genuinely local, this cooking challenge is a refreshing change from the usual cook-off. Teams will work with locally grown and sourced ingredients - from dot shrimp and Straits fish to nai bai and pea shoots -discovering just how delicious Singapore-grown produce can be.More than just a cooking competition, this experience aims to reconnect people with where their food comes from. Through cooking and tasting local ingredients for themselves, teams gain a deeper appreciation for Singapore's farmers and food producers, while challenging the common misconception that local produce isn't as good as imported alternatives. The challenge is designed to encourage teamwork, communication, and creative problem-solving. Teams must divide roles, manage their time, and deliver their dishes under pressure, with chefs on hand to guide when needed. The experience ends with a final presentation and judging, where teams are scored on taste, plating, teamwork, timing, and food waste before sitting down to enjoy the meal they've created together. You'll also be learning from the well-respected chef and cookbook author - Samia Ahad. Born in Pakistan, Samia pursued a culinary career at a time when professional kitchens were rarely welcoming places for women. Determined to learn, she fought for opportunities in kitchens around the world, picking up techniques, flavours, and stories from different cultures along the way. That spirit of curiosity, resilience, and respect for ingredients continues to shape the way food is taught and experienced here today. What to ExpectPrivate 3-hour cooking challenge for corporate teams or client groupsBriefing on the rules, menu and recipes before the timed challenge startsTeams of around 6 to 8 people cooking a shared multi-course meal with local produceExperienced chefs and facilitators guiding the group throughoutCreative final table presentation, team scoring and awardsA gourmet meal at the end, plus free-flow iced teaAll ingredients, aprons and cooking materials includedGood to KnowHalal-friendly setup with no pork or lardMenus can be customised in advance (based on dietary restrictions)Designed for private groups, typically around 10 to 120 participants, split into smaller teamsAlcohol, extra refreshments and snacks can be arranged on request at additional costThe format of the challenge can be customised to suit your team (mystery box, trivia etc), just let your host know your ideas!Mystery Box: Your host can introduce a mystery box with a mystery ingredient halfway through the process to test the team's creativity and ability to adaptTrivia: Your host can include a trivia session while teams are cooking. Meet your host
She left a corporate career in 1991 to train in New York, then learnt in kitchens like the Quilted Giraffe and March Restaurant before moving to Singapore. In 2001, she opened one of the city’s first multi-concept restaurants, built around light, simple and authentic Asian food. She still cooks and leads the kitchen herself. Beyond the table, she keeps sourcing local where she can, avoids plastic takeaway boxes and straws, and holds SAFEF Singapore’s 3 Leaf certification. She also stepped up to help raise funds after the Turkey-Syria earthquake.
