Make your own wooden jewellery from sustainable, reclaimed wood
Step into the world of mindful making in this 3-hour wooden jewellery workshop — a rare chance to experience woodworking reimagined through a modern, sustainable lens.In this hands-on session, you’ll learn to transform locally sourced wood into beautiful, wearable art. Start by discovering the story behind each piece of reclaimed timber and the sustainable practices that go into upcycling it. Then, explore the basics of wood types, grain patterns, finishing, and staining — and use traditional hand tools to design, cut, and polish your very own earrings or necklace.Your host left her corporate job to pursue her passion in Taiwan, where she spent six months learning the art of woodworking by hand. What began as a personal journey soon became a mission — to give discarded wood new life, and to show that this traditionally male-dominated craft can be just as empowering and accessible for everyone, especially women. What you will experience:Explore a new and therapeutic world in woodworking.Learn about the importance of trees’ sustainability and the upcycling process — how discarded wood can be given a second life.Be introduced to different types of wood.Identify the importance of wood grain direction and how it shapes the beauty of your handcrafted jewellery.Discover the right kind of finishing and staining to bring out the best in your piece.Receive hands-on demonstrations on how to use traditional woodworking hand tools.Get inspired with past examples of creations from previous participants and receive your own shape templates before the workshop.Design, create, and cut your own wooden jewellery — participants can make either two pairs of earrings, one pair of earrings and one necklace, or two necklaces to bring home.

Meet your host

Lyn is a cheerful yet no-nonsense instructor who believes in learning by doing. As a craftswoman and founder, she guides participants through the art of woodworking with equal parts patience and precision. Expect a little “tough love” as she teaches proper hand tool techniques, but also plenty of laughs and personal stories about her journey with wood. Her workshops are hands-on, heartfelt, and a reminder that craftsmanship is as much about care as it is about courage.
