We loved our cookery course. From farm to table, we picked vegetables and learned about how various plants are grown. Then we started from scratch, making magic Balinese paste, and many courses - soup, salad, steamed tofu, tempura and dessert. We had a great instructor, who taught us skills, but also we learned lots about Balinese cooking in general. What a fun day in stunning scenery! On a side note, Sidemen is a beautiful village and I would recommend staying at least overnight to get a feel for it (but it’s also possible to travel from Ubud which we did).

Tremendous custom tour north of Ubud, the highlight of which was the gorgeous Banyumala Waterfall and an invigorating swim. Justin, the driver/guide, was perfect: delightful, thoughtful, and informative. Also, he is a calm and cautious driver.

This silver-making class was truly one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip! There’s something special about creating a keepsake with your own hands—especially with the guidance and love from the local artisans. The workshop is located in a stunning setting, right near the picturesque Yellow Bridge and surrounded by lush jungle. The open-concept space made the experience feel relaxed adding to the charm. The local teachers were engaging and genuinely lovely people who made the entire process so enjoyable. We walked away not only with a beautiful piece of jewelry but also with meaningful memories. This experience is a must-do for anyone looking to take home something truly unique and personal from their travels!
