We had the most amazing experience with Doni on our 4 day 3 night trip to mount Bromo and mount ijen. The volcanoes were stunning, the accommodation surpassed expectations and we really enjoyed the added places that Doni offered to take us to - Wonosari tea plantation, an amazing fern and moss covered waterfall and some local hot springs (small additional charge for each place but really worth it). We left feeling more like friends than clients. They even organised a cake for my partner to celebrate his birthday. I would 100% recommend this trip - make sure you ask for Doni!

This was 3D2N trip to Tumpak Sewu, Bromo and Ijen (in this order). Perfectly organized pick up from Surabaja, transfers between hotels and drop off to Malang; timely but with flexibility to give us as much time in case we needed it The driver spoke little English but tried his best also with Google Translate - enough for simple communication but do not count on a lot of conversation during the transfers. Tumpak Sewu - very nice guide speaking good English and willing to explain things. The waterfalls are gorgeous. You can also see the Goa waterfalls and cave if you ask the guide and buy additional ticket. It is in the same location and worth seeing, I think. Please remember you will have best fun if you get totally wet. Dress accordingly abd change your clothes afterwards 😀. Bromo - crowded at the sunrise viewpoint but everyone took the picture eventually :) , well maybe not everyone at the perfect moment. The hike after the sunrise also with amazing views. Ijen - great adventure. The hike to the crater and then down and up may be strenuous. Take your time to rest. The smell is not so bad as you have a mask but your eyes may be burning if the wind will bring dense smoke on you. This is not a big deal as you can easily move away from this by making just a few steps . You can get a torch if you do not have one (it is needed indeed). We were able to see the blue fires but we were lucky. The guide was English speaking and helpful. We were late to climb up from the crater to see the sunrise and our guide decided to wait for the sunrise down in the crater, very beautiful view on the lake down there also.

Simply the best! Hirman was 10/10, just perfect. The tour itself was amazing (the locations, the stops and the hotel). But Hiram was on another level. He is knowledgeable, high energy, funny and his english is perfect. I learned so much, and laughed a lot also. It felt like traveling with an old friend, but with all the local knowledge (both treks, best sunrise spot, but also a lot on culture and the phenomenon we observed - blue fire, how mount bromo was formed, etc). There was no question he didn’t have a complete and thorough answer and he was 100% of the time concerned with my wellbeing. Everything you could expect from a guide!
