I enjoyed this tour! I went on a Monday so some things were closed (as is mentioned in the description), but this meant I was able to go to the Women's Museum instead, which was my favorite part of the tour! Glad it turned out that way. A very educational and important tour to understand Vietnam's history and present day culture. I wish there was more food though!

I booked the day before and we were picked up right outside our hotel. Chris and Q were amazing guides and scooter drivers, navigating the traffic safely. I never once felt worried. We had a stop at historic temple and museum, followed by a delicious lunch with local family cafe. It was a great way to spend a few hours and would highly recommend to others looking for a fun, interesting way to spend the morning or afternoon.

The ride from the city to the countryside was fantastic. We stopped every so often to soak in sights and learn the historical and cultural relevance about the area. John is a knowledgeable and funny tour guide. He is respectful, polite and even made sure we were comfortable with topics or discussions so that he wouldn't offend. It's a great tour and although I'm sure they do them often, it felt personal to the details we shared with him. John is a gifted tour guide as he found ways to tie our lived experience into today's experience and relate them in a very authentic way.

Great trip with efficient and knowledgeable guides. Ninh Binh was great, even though it’s crammed with tourists and you feel you’re being processed through a machine. The experience is so amazing it more than compensates for this. The Halong Bay cruise was also amazing, but this is what takes the rating from five to four stars. The boat was great, the experience totally amazing, but we were disappointed the sailing was only back and forth same route the same day giving a reduced possibility to experience the bay. We were picked up onshore by a shuttle boat, boarded the ship in a bay near Cat Ba island, sailed one quarter around it to the kayaking, sailed back the same route to the same place we were boarding, and stayed there for the night. Other cruise providers did not do that, but stayed the night a different place.

This is a great way to gain a perspective on village life outside Hanoi in the Red River delta. Huy was very articulate and well informed about the history and life in this part of Vietnam, and made the whole experience very interesting. We were conducted through the city and into some tiny country roads in a comfortable, but exciting way on the back of a couple of motorcycles, which provided not only a great view, but also a way to see parts of the countryside which would be inaccessible by car. We were treated to a delicious traditional lunch in a private home, we visited a couple of village centers, drove through the paddy fields, saw a lotus farm, and finally braved the Hanoi traffic to be dropped back at our hotel. The bikes felt safe, the drivers were careful, so we could focus on the experience. A big part of the tour was the conversation with Huy, who not only shared information about the places we visited, but also shared something of his own life. His openness made this a unique and valuable experience.
