I booked the Komodo boat trip with Papiton and it was the best experience ever! The master room with the private terrace on Papiton 2 boat is a dream, never wanted to leave it. What made this trip probably better than others is that fact that they offer options for Thursday-Saturday instead of the usual Friday-Sunday so the places we visited were less crowded. We were also always the first one to get there, so hands down for the perfect timing. The crew was very friendly, always here to help. I was a little bit concerned with the food but there was always options to satisfy every taste, even if you're vegetarian and love healthy food :) One little thing that could be improved is having real bedsheets instead of a blanket, but really that's it. I'll recommend this trip to everyone :) thank you again for the amazing memories !!

The Komodo boat trip exceeded our expectations and thanks to the last-minute deal this incredible experience was within our budget. We went in early december and it was a highlight of our 6 weeks in Indonesia. Amir was the perfect guide too!

Danke!

Labuan Bajo (Komodo) FAQs

Are Komodo dragons dangerous?

Yes, but attacks on humans are rare. Komodo dragons are wild predators and can be dangerous if provoked. Always follow the rules, keep a safe distance, and stay close to your guide.

Do I need a guide to visit Komodo National Park?

Yes, a local guide is required to accompany you when visiting Komodo or Rinca Island. They ensure your safety and can help spot the wildlife. In any event, you have to book a boat trip to go to Komodo National Park as you can’t get there otherwise from Labuan Bajo.

What is the dress code for women in Labuan Bajo?

The dress code is pretty casual in Labuan Bajo. You’ll often see women in swimwear, casual beachwear, and shorts. That’s totally fine, especially when you’re on a boat or by the sea. But if you’re heading to villages or cultural sites, consider covering your shoulders and knees as a sign of respect for local customs.

How many days should I spend in Labuan Bajo?

Most travellers just come in for the Komodo boat trip and leave, but to us that’s a shame because there’s so much to see and do!

To truly experience Labuan Bajo and its surrounding areas, we recommend at least a week. You’ll get to explore the Komodo Islands, go hiking, and discover hidden gems like Rangko Cave, Batu Cermin, and Cunca Wulang Waterfalls.

If you have two weeks, you can venture further into Flores, including the beautiful Kelimutu Lakes and remote Wae Rebo village.

Is Labuan Bajo safe for tourists?

Yes, Labuan Bajo is a safe destination, with low crime rates similar to Bali. Solo female travellers can feel comfortable walking around, though it’s best to stay vigilant in areas without street lighting (which were only introduced recently and often still off!).
