Bali for Solo Aventurers

Due to high winds, we had to forgo the night time lake ride and walk a slightly longer, but less steep, way up to the view. After catching the spectacular sunrise, we were given the go ahead for the lake ride back. The kids enjoyed the more adventurous hike down, along with the boat ride past the tilapia fisheries. Justin was very easy to communicate with and had a wealth of knowledge to share on our drive up. Our two guides, Dennis and Wi, were very friendly and took some fun photos for us at the top.

My friend and I did the sunrise mountain hike with our incredible guide Wi and driver Yosi who brought us to &amp; from Ubud. Both guides were very knowledgeable about the caldera and surrounding mountains and happy to answer any questions we had about life in Bali and the stunning landscapes! We got warm breakfast and coffee at the top made by the sweetest local lady at the summit as well. I highly recommend this experience if you want a unique view of the area on this hidden gem hike that not many tourists go on!

The hike wasn’t the easiest for a beginner, but Wi, the guide, took great care of us throughout the journey.

It was absolutely worth the effort for the breathtaking views at the top. We even had the entire area to ourselves, which made it easy to fully enjoy the peaceful and spectacular scenery.

I am a 65 year old woman travelling to Bali alone. I’m moderately fit but really had no idea if I would be able to complete the 2 hour hike to the top of Mt. Batur. So the shorter hike to the caldera rim seemed like a good choice. I am so grateful to my guide Wi for helping me and encouraging me up the steep climb. There were many challenging points in this climb where I thought I wouldn’t be able to keep going. But Wi was patient and knew the trail well and he helped me to get up it. 

The entire experience from start to finish was amazing. Justin reached out to communicate clearly about the excursion details. My driver Arsa was very good at navigating twisty mountain roads and he even stopped along the way to allow me to take photos, and he also was quite talented in taking photos and videos as well. And my guide Wi was so knowledgeable and patient. The pre-dawn boat trip across lake Batur was magical as we could see the stars so clearly. And the sunrise from the top of the climb was stunning. After the climb, I was taken to a natural hot springs to soak my muscles and it was a bit kitschy but bliss!

Maybe because I did this trip at the end of the rainy season, but I was the only person on the boat and the on the trail. No one else at the top either. The only advice I can offer is to dress in layers. I’m from Canada so I found it quite hot and humid. I brought along a long sleeved top and jacket but didn’t need them. Oh, and I brought along my own headlamp and was super glad that I did. 

 I’m so glad that I picked this excursion through Seek Sophie. It was life changing and I recommend it 100%.

A superb bike tour led by excellent guides who maintained safety at all times as well as being very informative about the local area and traditions. The route is mainly downhill so very enjoyable and you get to see the back road, villages, jungle and rice fields. Highly recommended.

Our guides, Ben and Arizona, were fantastic. They were friendly and full of knowledge about Bali. Along the ride they shared so many interesting insights about Bolognese culture , daily life , traditions in the local communities. It felt like we were getting a true behind-the-scenes look at Bali, not just a tour.

The scenery was beautiful and the experience felt very authentic.

If you are debating whether to book this, DO IT! We debated doing the full Mt. Batur hike but because we're not hikers and because we've heard how busy it is, we ended up doing the caldera hike instead. DO IT! Our guide Wi literally pulled me up the mountain and we got to the top for sunrise. We were the only people there, and we could see Mt. Batur, Mt. Abang and Mt. Agung and even Mt. Rinjani in the distance. This is not an easy hike. If you are not a hikers be prepared to struggle. But the support from the guide is incredible. 

We also opted to go to the hot spring and the coffee plantation. Also recommended, especially the coffee plantation. We came away with too much delicious coffee and tea.

Justin, our driver-guide, was also incredible. So friendly and so knowledgeable about all things Bali. We covered lots of topics of discussion in our time together, including local farming practices, animals, and Balinese religion and culture. 

Overall, I cannot rate this trip highly enough. My sister and I had the most incredible day we could have asked for.
